Stanza 10: Reflection

Your initial thought may have been the shortage of alliteration in the title of this Stanza.

Stanza 10: Reflection. One consideration, rumination, or cogitation.

Simply put, you may wonder where we are on this journey of life, conveyed in this carefully-crafted blog. If you have followed this blog from the “Introduction” until now, you may have uncovered the hidden pattern or thread of life.

I began with “Beholding Birth,” the start of one’s journey into our world. As I wrestle to pinpoint a singular answer for human life’s purpose, I dive into the simile of birth as a fashion runway.

The next Stanza, “Adolescent Adult,” teeters into the unsteady, intermediate stage of one’s upbringing. Puberty, social norms, and responsibilities flood the hormonal receptors of teenagers. As our physical beings shift in height, weight, and overall shape, society initiates our entry into adulthood.

Stanza 3, “Lonely Love,” focuses on the personal heartbreak of a relationship while finishing high school and entering college. The importance of trust, communication, and shared interests form the backbone of strong relationships. I focus on the idea of loneliness as the quest for love.

After becoming an American adult, I have the right to legally vote in our democracy. Stanza 4, “Political Powerhouse,” centers on the current government administration and political divide within the United States. The political cycle continues to churn as the next election rapidly approaches.

My family’s trip to Africa inspired Stanza 5, “Turbulent Travel.” In the wake of tightened airport security and Boeing 737 MAX technical scares, the trip to a foreign country was turbulent. After circumnavigating several airports, lingering hours at security checkpoints, eleven lengthy flights, and thousands of miles surfing the clouds, I arrived back home to the States.

The natural wonder of Africa and reflective nature of my trip prompted Stanza 6, “Precious Planet.” After witnessing the raw beauty of nature in a continent such as Africa, I understand the importance of protecting the scenery around us. Humanity’s mission should strive to save the beauty found within this precious planet.

Stanzas 7, 8, and 9 (“University Utopia”,”Trendy Tinder”, and “Timely Traffic”, respectively) coalesce on the nature of college and urban academic campuses. As a current student navigating the highways of classes and swiping on potential matches, the “Millennial” university has been established. The movement of cars and the levels of education revolve around the mechanical motor of our planet.

Stanza 10: Reflection. The journey continues…
